Department stores are amazing places when you’re a parent. They have everything you could possibly need, all under one roof. When you’re craving an escape from the house, a short shopping trip could be just what you need. Inevitably you’ll run into a few other parents there thinking the same thing, and they tend to fall into a few different categories.
There’s the unshowered parent who just needed to get out of the house, though didn’t really dress for it (maybe they’re looking to buy new clothes so they don’t have to do another load of laundry). You’ll see new dads walking around looking totally clueless while carrying a baby and eyeing a list of things to pick up, and old hat dads spoiling their kids with toys and sweets while mom is away.
Then there are the overwhelmed moms with a cart loaded with wiggly children just barely making it through the aisles without knocking them over or running over other people’s kids.
