Kids tend to feel isolated when they think they are the only ones who have ever gone through a particular situation when in reality, most people have been there. One thing parents can do to make their kids feel more understood is to share more about themselves and make themselves seem more human. Knowing that other people have experienced something can offer comfort to kids and encourages them to ask for advice or help.
