It’s officially August and everyone is beginning the countdown to preschool. Whether your child is potty trained or you’re still in the process, you may be concerned about being fully prepared for preschool. A recent post on BabyCenter addresses how to work with the school, wherever you are on the potty training spectrum, and how to stay on track.
Schedule an adults-only meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss how the bathroom situation is handled. Come prepared with any questions you may have, such as how they reward successes. If there is a new student orientation, have your child locate and use the bathroom so they know what to expect. Find out where any potty training supplies are stored. Have a talk with your child about how they feel about using the potty at school and reassure them about any fears. Finally, have a supply kit ready to go, including flushable wipes, a change of clothing, and a plastic bag for sending wet clothing home.
