Being a mom is tough. And then you throw in the additional hardship of working on top of that? There’s only so much time in the day, and sleep becomes one of the things that gets sacrificed.
Carolyn Robertson with babycenter Blog has shared her thoughts on the predicament, and her own experience rings true for any mother who’s working too.
It was a little before 4:30 a.m. when she finally succumbed to sleep. In the hours in between, she thrashed and complained, squirmed and kicked her blankets off, and wished repeatedly that “ears were never even invented.” She also requested 5 replacement ice packs, took approximately 47 sips of water, required 2 trips to the bathroom, went through half a box of Kleenex and asked about 13 times if it was morning yet.
She wasn’t even in pain as much as she was just very agitated. I pressed my hands against her restless little body, trying to calm her. I told her to take deep breaths, whispered a story of a garden filled with tired fairies. I practically begged her to sleep.
