I really value self-sufficiency and sometimes think that Mr. Dolphin and I don’t do enough in encouraging our little ones to be self-sufficient. I was very independent as a child, making my own breakfast at a young age and actually used to tell my mother to go back to bed in the mornings because that was my “alone time.” Teaching myself and my brother self-sufficiency was important to my mother, I think both as something she valued, but also out of necessity since she was a single mom who worked a lot.
Key Takeaways:
- I really value self-sufficiency and sometimes think that Mr. Dolphin and I don’t do enough in encouraging our little ones to be self-sufficient.
- Making the toys accessible also allows the kids to learn to put their toys away more easily.
- Doing baby-led weaning really allowed the kids to be in charge of their own eating and let us all eat as a family instead of having to have one parent holding the bowl and spoon to feed our infants.
“I realized that there are plenty of ways that we do allow them to do things for themselves.”
