The American Academy of Pediatics (AAP) has created new guidelines around screen use but getting children off their devices is tough when apps, games, and entertainment are engaging and immersive experiences. When threatening and warnings don’t work, parents can try to minimize conflict by following five tips. First have another activity ready for your child. Use cues to help kids track time limits or find apps with built in timers. Tell kids to stop at the next natural breaking point. Finally, discuss consequences with your child and follow through.
