When Becky Vieira’s son was born, she did not cry even though she assumed that she would. This made her feel bad about herself. She thought that every women cried at the birth of a child. Reality got in the way of her idealized picture of the moment, as she was instead anxious about her epidural. Her experience seemed a little surreal. She still felt like it was a special time, even though she did not cry. She shared her story and others have said that her reaction was normal for many.
