A woman with a history of depression explains how she was first diagnosed with depression and how motherhood affected her treatment. She started on an antidepressant drug in her 20’s and felt a tremendous improvement. After wanting a baby, she stopped the treatment. After becoming pregnant and suffering the effects of depression, she resumed a modified treatment. After the birth of the child, she felt the treatment was insufficient and received increased medication from her doctor.
