Parents often find themselves dreading the day their kids learn how to say ‘no’ rather than doing what they are told. Some people find training to be a waste of time or even detrimental. One dad shares his story of teaching his son to stay off the stairs in an article for Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine.
Adam Rust reports having success with stair training after three attempts. The first time his son was reprimanded for trying to climb the stairs, he tried again immediately and was disciplined. The second time, Rust only had to walk toward his son after saying no in order to get the point across. On that third occasion, he responded to ‘no’ by backing off and was met with a chorus of cheers.
