Car seats have saved countless lives, but that doesn’t mean they protect everyone.
The Dodd family in Oklahoma went through their worst nightmare when their 11-week old son Shepard was left, asleep, in a car seat inside a home day care center. But two hours later, he was found blue. Though he was rushed to the hospital, it wasn’t in time and he passed of positional asphyxiation.
The center is in the process of being shut down, as this isn’t the first time they’ve allowed children to sleep for long periods of time in car seats – which is highly dangerous.
