Heroes can come out of unexpected places. A friendly stranger sometimes turns out to be the hero they never knew they could be. Herman McGarrah was taking the train last week when such an event presented itself.
Pamela Ferrell and a stranger were lifting her one year old granddaughter Tabrina down the stairs to reach the New York City subways when the unthinkable happened – Tabrina fell out of the stroller and onto the train tracks.
Luckily, Herman McGarrah of East Harlem was there and rushed to help the child. He was forced to crawl beneath the train to reach her, but luckily both of them were safe and off the tracks in no time. Afterwards, Tabrina only suffered a light cut and Herman, who has had to deal with a rough life of his own, said, “My life hasn’t been in vain…” because he was able to do one perfect thing.
It never was, Herman, and now you (and everyone else) knows that. Well done.
