Working moms: How do you handle sleep deprivation?

Once the baby period is over and you settle into a normal sleep routine once more, the unexpected event of missing a night (or more) of sleep with a sick child can be overwhelming. If you’re a working mom, that missed sleep translates to a zombie of an employee the next day. How do you cope with missed sleep as a working mom?

Key Takeaways:

  • It was 11 p.m. last night when my 6-year-old daughter yelled out for me from her bedroom.
  • She wasn’t even in pain as much as she was just very agitated. I pressed my hands against her restless little body, trying to calm her.
  • At some point my husband tagged me out, taking up the vigil while I fell into bed and drifted just on the other side of sleep

“Being up all night when you have a baby is definitely tough, but during those early months it pretty much comes with the job. When your kids are older, though, it’s a shock to the system.”
