Co-parenting can be a hard thing to do. Hard on all parties involved both parents and the children. But what always seems to make things harder is when people pile on to your stress with less than sensitive and apathetic comments or questions. Some hard questions to answer as a single parent include “How do you handle the guilt?” and “Are you good cop or bad cop?”
Key Takeaways:
- If you haven’t been in a particular role yourself, you might be unable to imagine what it’s like.
- I haven’t had more than six hours of sleep for the last five nights and when I do stop I invariably fall into a comatose state.
- I was handling it just fine until you brought it up. Seriously though, single-parent guilt is a wasted emotion.
“Even when I feel like a child myself and just want to curl up on the floor with a blanket and have someone stroke my hair, I have to carry on adulting.”
