Much attention has been given to the challenges of postpartum depression, and rightly so– it impacts a significant percentage of new mothers. However, for many women, it is the process of pregnancy itself that is intensely difficult, not its aftermath. Depression during pregnancy, especially during the second or third pregnancy, is a real issue. Thankfully, it’s a temporary issue. Raising more awareness about it is important– so that women know that they are not alone, and that this experience will not last forever.
