Kristen Hilderman was minding her own business and quietly breastfeeding her baby boy Caleb while sitting next to her husband on a United Airlines flight earlier this month when they were approached by a male flight attendant named Keith. He didn’t speak directly to Kristen, but instead rudely tossed a blanket at her husband and told him to “help her out.”
Shocked and embarrassed, Kristen asked, “help me out with what?” but was completely ignored. Other passengers were also shocked at the flight attendant’s behavior, some of whom said they had no idea she had been breastfeeding. In fact, the only person that seemed to be bothered by it was the flight attendant.
Kristen shared her account of what happened on Twitter to bring attention to the incident and she received an outpouring of support. Finally she received a response from United Airlines saying they wanted to follow up on the incident, and they gave her a phone call to personally apologize.
