All the ginger mom real-talk confessions, all the time.
*cracks knuckles*
Here we go.
I have a ginger kid and when I signed her up for Irish dance class, I did so ostensibly because I know she’ll enjoy it, but maaaaybe also because I know how she’ll be a Poster Child for the sport.
I have a ginger kid and I am pre-mourning the day I no longer get to dictate her ginger-appropriate Halloween costumes.
I have a ginger kid and despite having her for almost four years now, I STILL can’t tell the difference between when she’s just hot and her cheeks are pink and when she’s sunburning and her cheeks are pink.
I have a ginger kid and when friends whose children are emphatically not gingers insist that if you squint or Insta-filter just right or take a photo at exactly 6:22PM in the dying sunset light they’re totally certain their kid is a ginger too, I roll my eyes. I know you wish your kid were as cute a ginger as mine, but let’s be honest with ourselves. Your kid is blonde blonde blonde. It’s not turning red, it’s not turning strawberry, it’s blonde. And that’s okay. Let your kid be who they are!
I have a ginger kid, and I like giving the #gingermom nod to other moms of gingers out in the wild. It’s like being a Volkswagon van driver; you gotta give the nod, the nod that says, “Our gingers are such cuties, I know, we are lucky!”
I have a ginger kid and sometimes I don’t want her to wear a sun hat because it will hide her cute red hair, even though I know it’s healthier for her to wear it out in the sun. So like, I make her wear it, but SUPER reluctantly. I hate having her hide her metaphorical light under a metaphorical bushel! (Her real light is her personality of course. But also! That hair!)
I have a ginger kid and I used to dye my hair red before I had her, and now I don’t, because I’m afraid people will think I’m trying to match her now. So I went purple instead. Now we match less! Oh well.
I have a ginger kid, and if she grows up to be even CLOSE to the woman Molly Weasley is, I’ll be darn proud. It’s all a #gingermom can hope for, right?

March 20, 2018 at 4:21 amI’m a ginger mom also of 6 for sure gingers 4 for sure brunettes and one seventeen month old who confuses us lol. Our oldest ginger is 16 and I’m still confused by the whole Rosy cheek thing. I am amused by the fact that adult gingers are jealous if all our gingers 😉
